NWJ121 Tubeless, Self-Adhesive, Polymer-Modified Bitumen Waterproofing Membrane

  • Details

This product is a waterproofing membrane made from a self-adhesive polymer-modified bitumen base—formulated from synthetic rubbers such as SBS and SBR, tackifying resins, and high-quality petroleum bitumen—with a separating layer applied to its surface.

 Product Categories

Based on the top surface material, they are classified as polyethylene film (PE), polyester film (PET), and filmless double-sided self-adhesive (D). Based on performance, they are classified as Type I and Type II.

 Grid Size

Thickness: 1.2 mm, 1.5 mm, 2.0 mm;

Width: 1000 mm;

Nominal area: 15 m², 20 m².

 Number Marker

Label in the following order: product name, type, top surface material, thickness, area, and standard number.

Example: A Type I, non-reinforced, self-adhesive, polymer-modified bitumen waterproofing membrane with an area of 20 m² and a thickness of 2.0 mm is labeled as:

Self-adhesive sheeting NI PE 2.020 GB 23441-2009

 Product Features

  • Excellent self-adhesive properties. At room temperature, the self-adhesive adhesive exhibits exceptional bonding strength, allowing for full adhesion to clean, dry cement substrates and effectively preventing delamination and water penetration;
  • Good flexibility. It adapts well to movement, cracking, and deformation of the substrate, thereby reducing water leakage caused by substrate deformation to a certain extent;
  • Its exceptional “self-sealing” performance at the substrate level limits leaks caused by damage to the membrane to a localized area, preventing the entire waterproofing layer from failing;
  • Its distinctive “self-healing” function allows it to repair minor puncture damage on its own; it is capable of healing punctures caused by nail shafts or fine cracks, effectively ensuring the integrity of the waterproofing membrane;
  • Excellent low-temperature flexibility. It can adapt to the requirements of different regions and climates, making it suitable for a wide range of applications.

Depending on the specific circumstances of the project, either the wet-lay method or the dry-lay method may be used.

  • Wet Installation Method: A construction method that uses cement slurry or cement mortar to bond self-adhesive membrane rolls, solving the challenge of installing membrane rolls on damp substrates. Key Points for Wet Installation

◎The subgrade should be firm, clean, and thoroughly moistened, with no standing water;

◎ When preparing the cement slurry, mix thoroughly; when laying the membrane, use a wooden trowel or rubber roller to press down on the surface of the membrane and bring the slurry to the surface, ensuring that the membrane adheres tightly to the substrate; the overlap width of the membrane shall be no less than

80 mm.

  • Dry-Lay Method: On a dry, level, and dust-free substrate, first apply a primer. Once dry, peel off the release film from the self-adhesive side of the roll material and adhere it directly to the substrate. Key Points for the Dry-Lay Method

◎Before laying the membrane, apply a primer evenly to the substrate surface; once dry, lay the membrane promptly;

◎When installing the membrane, completely remove the release film from the underside of the membrane; ensure all air is completely removed from beneath the membrane, and roll it firmly to ensure a secure bond; the installed membrane should be flat and straight, with accurate lap dimensions, and must not be twisted. Hot air may be used to assist with installation at the overlaps; after heating with hot air, the membrane should be firmly adhered immediately.

 Applications

Suitable for non-exposed waterproofing projects such as building roofs, underground areas, and pipelines; particularly suitable for projects where open flames are prohibited;

Membrane-free, double-sided self-adhesive rolls are suitable for auxiliary waterproofing projects and can also be used to bond and seal the junctions between waterproofing layers made of two incompatible materials.

 Packaging, Storage, and Transportation

  • Packaging: Sealed in special packaging film.
  • Storage: Products of different types and specifications should be stored separately and must not be mixed. Protect from direct sunlight and rain, and ensure proper ventilation. The storage temperature should not exceed 45°C. When stored flat, rolls should be stacked no higher than three layers; when stored upright, they should be stored in a single layer. Under normal storage and transportation conditions, the product has a shelf life of 1 year from the date of manufacture.
  • Transportation: Prevent tilting or lateral pressure during transport; cover with a tarpaulin if necessary.
