NWG213 PNW Non-Asphalt-Based Polymer Self-Adhesive Waterproofing Membrane

  • Details

This product is a waterproofing material consisting of an HDPE (high-density polyethylene) sheet as the base membrane, with a polymer adhesive layer and a reactive inorganic polymer particle anti-adhesive layer applied to one side; it is a pre-applied waterproofing membrane with excellent performance.

This material offers exceptional resistance to puncture, impact, weathering, and extreme temperatures. Using the pre-laid reverse-adhesion method, the polymer self-adhesive film forms an effective bond with the unhardened cement paste in the concrete under pressure, Once the concrete has cured, the membrane bonds seamlessly with the subsequently poured concrete, achieving full adhesion and completely preventing water penetration.

Product Structure

Specifications and Dimensions

Width: 1 m, 2 m; Total thickness of the roll material: 1.2 mm, 1.5 mm, 1.7 mm.

The thickness of the main material of the product shall not be less than 0.7 mm; the total thickness shall not be less than 1.2 mm; the adhesive layer shall be at least 0.25 mm thick; and the width of the area without adhesive along the longitudinal edges of the overlapped rolls shall not exceed 5 mm. (Other specifications may be agreed upon by the supplier and the purchaser.)

Code Marker

Class P—Plastic Waterproofing Membranes; marked in the following order: name, standard number, type, thickness of the main material/total thickness, and area.

Example: A 20 m² plastic pre-applied waterproofing membrane with a total thickness of 1.2 mm and a base material thickness of 0.9 mm is labeled as:

Pre-laid Waterproofing Membrane GB/T 23457-2017-P 0.9/1.2-20.

Product Features

  • It has strong adhesion and forms a lasting bond with concrete, ensuring the service life of the waterproofing layer;
  • No protective layer is required; after installation, the membrane can be walked on immediately, and concrete can be poured directly onto it, simplifying the process, reducing costs, and shortening the construction schedule;
  • No leveling layer is required, and the substrate requirements are minimal, making it suitable for construction during the rainy season and projects with tight deadlines;
  • The waterproofing layer is installed loose-laid over the substrate and is not affected by cracks in the substrate;
  • It has strong adhesion to concrete, and its bonding properties remain unaffected when exposed to water or dust, making it ideal for on-site applications;
  • The self-adhesive layer is made with a special formulation that maintains high peel strength even in environments of prolonged water immersion;
  • These materials are safe and environmentally friendly; they do not cause environmental pollution during construction and conserve energy.

Construction Methods

The membrane is pre-laid on the substrate, and the release film on the upper surface is removed before pouring the concrete. For horizontal surfaces, the membrane is installed using the loose-laid method, while for vertical surfaces, it is mechanically fastened. This ensures a “cured bond” between the membrane and the concrete, forming a 100% bond with the concrete structure.

Key Construction Points

  • If the roll material is a single, fully adhesive-coated sheet, the overlaps can be bonded directly. If the roll material has pre-cut overlap edges, they must be welded using a specialized hot-air gun and then compacted with a specialized pressure roller.
  • The overlaps in the roll material must not be contaminated; if contamination occurs, it must be thoroughly cleaned before continuing with installation.
  • When using an adhesive application method, if the adhesive is not viscous enough, it must be heated with hot air.
  • For large-area sand-coated roll materials, transverse overlaps should be constructed using the butt joint method.
  • When installing the facade, metal clips must be used for mechanical fastening to prevent the panels from falling off.

Applications

Suitable for waterproofing, moisture-proofing, and seepage-proofing projects in underground structures, tunnels, subways, and similar environments.

Packaging, Storage, and Transportation

  • Packaging: Sealed in special packaging.
  • Storage and Transportation: Products of different types and specifications should be stacked separately and must not be mixed. Protect them from direct sunlight and rain, and ensure adequate ventilation. The storage temperature should not exceed 45°C. When stored horizontally, the stack height should not exceed 5 layers; when stored vertically, stack only one layer at a time. During transportation, prevent tilting or lateral pressure; cover with a tarpaulin if necessary. Under normal transportation and storage conditions, the shelf life is one year from the date of manufacture.

Performance Metrics

The product complies with the GB/T 23457-2017 "Pre-applied Waterproofing Membranes" standard and also meets the requirements of GB 50108-2008 "Technical Specifications for Waterproofing of Underground Structures."
