NWT331 Non-Curing Rubber-Asphalt Waterproof Coating

This product is a new type of waterproofing material with excellent elastoplastic properties, self-healing properties, adhesion, and resistance to aging. When used in combination with roll roofing membranes, it meets the construction requirements of various projects in different climatic conditions and offers application performance characteristics such as fatigue resistance, creep resistance, and water-blocking properties.

Product Features

  • Never Cures: With a solids content greater than 98%, it contains no solvents or volatiles and maintains its original elastic-plastic state throughout its service life.
  • Excellent substrate adaptability: It exhibits strong adaptability to dry and wet substrates, as well as those with cracks or significant deformation. It forms a full-surface bond with the substrate while effectively penetrating and sealing microscopic cracks, accommodating deformation, and never hardening;
  • High Adhesion: Retains its adhesive properties over the long term, bonds seamlessly to the substrate to form a single, integrated unit, and provides superior waterproofing performance; can be applied to damp substrates and used for leak repair, and maintains excellent adhesion to any foreign material.
  •  High self-healing properties: Even if the waterproofing layer is damaged during installation or use, it can repair itself, preventing water from seeping between the waterproofing layer and the substrate and maintaining the continuity of the waterproofing layer; during installation, the materials do not separate, forming a stable, seamless, and monolithic waterproofing layer.
  • Easy to apply and highly efficient: It does not require operators to have advanced technical skills. It can be applied using various methods, such as machine spraying or manual troweling, ensuring high efficiency and reducing construction time.
  • It can be used in combination with other waterproofing materials to form a composite waterproofing layer, thereby enhancing waterproofing performance.
  • Excellent water repellency: Water repellency refers to the property of a material that prevents it from being wetted by water when it comes into contact with water.

Construction Methods

Non-curing rubber-asphalt waterproofing coatings are used in combination with compatible waterproofing membranes. They can be applied using either a trowel or a spray.

  • Application by Scraping Method

It is primarily suitable for areas that are easy to apply by trowel—such as underground floor slabs, vertical walls, and roofs—as well as at joints, for small-scale waterproofing projects, and for areas where spray application is not suitable.

Place the materials in the designated equipment and heat them until they reach approximately 150°C, at which point they are ready for use. At this temperature, the coating will have excellent flow and workability. During application, work in pairs: one person applies the coating with a trowel while the other lays the membrane.

  • Spray Application Method

It is primarily suitable for large-area waterproofing projects and areas where application by brushing is difficult.

Spraying work should be carried out in sections, and protective covering should be put in place beforehand. The working width of each section should exceed the width of the roll material by 300 mm. Adjust the distance and angle between the nozzle and the substrate, as well as the pressure of the spraying equipment, to ensure that the sprayed material forms a smooth, even surface with no exposed substrate and uniform thickness.

During application, spray multiple coats to achieve the design thickness. Alternate the spraying direction with each coat, and the overlap width between successive coats within the same layer should be 30–50 mm.

  • Installing Roll Materials

Immediately after spraying or troweling is complete, lay the membrane onto the surface of the applied waterproof coating, ensuring it is straight, flat, and free of wrinkles. The overlap width of the membrane is 100 mm. The overlaps are joined using a cold-bonding method: apply the non-curing rubberized asphalt waterproofing coating by troweling or spraying within the overlap width. No surface drying time is required; the membrane at the overlap can be applied immediately and rolled with a roller.

 

 

Applications

Suitable for subbases with significant unevenness and high stress, as well as areas where deformation is foreseeable or occurs frequently;

It is particularly suitable for projects where open-flame installation, mechanical installation, and cold-adhesive installation are not permitted;

It is primarily used for waterproofing and leak-sealing projects in underground structures, rooftops, subways, tunnels, culverts, roads, bridges, and similar locations.

Packaging, Storage, and Transportation

  • Packaging: Packed in sealed metal drums.
  • Storage and Transportation: This product is non-flammable and non-explosive and may be transported as general cargo. During transportation, protect the product from freezing, rain, direct sunlight, crushing, and impact, and ensure the packaging remains intact. The storage temperature should not exceed 40°C. During storage, ensure the area is well-ventilated and dry, and protect the product from direct sunlight; the storage temperature must not be lower than 5°C. The shelf life is at least 12 months.
