NWJ123 Polyester-Reinforced Pre-laid Waterproofing Membrane

  • Details

This product is a waterproofing membrane composed of a self-adhesive polymer-modified asphalt base—formulated from synthetic rubbers such as SBS and SBR, tackifying resins, and high-quality petroleum asphalt—with a polyester felt reinforcement and anti-adhesive material applied to one or both sides.

Specifications and Dimensions

Thickness: 4.0 mm;

Width: 1000 mm;

Other specifications shall be agreed upon by the buyer and seller.

 Number Marker

Products are marked by product name, standard number, type, total thickness, area, and sequence.

Example: A 10 m² pre-applied waterproofing membrane made of polymer-modified asphalt with a polyester reinforcement and a thickness of 4.0 mm is labeled as:

Pre-applied Waterproofing Membrane GB/T 23457-2017-PY 4.0-10

 Product Features

  • It has excellent self-adhesive properties, can be applied to damp substrates, and has a wide range of applications;
  • It bonds fully to the building structure, effectively preventing liquid water and water vapor from entering the structure;
  • High tensile strength and high elongation, with excellent adaptability to expansion, contraction, and cracking of the substrate;
  • After the membrane is installed, rebar and concrete can be laid directly on top of it without the need for a protective layer, which speeds up construction.

Construction Methods

Pre-lay Method: This is a common installation method for self-adhesive membranes in basement construction, also known as the reverse-adhesion method. The membrane is loosely laid on the substrate with the self-adhesive side facing up. The release liner on the top surface is peeled off, and concrete is then poured. The concrete bonds firmly to the self-adhesive side of the membrane, forming a sealed waterproof layer.

  • Process Flow

Inspect and clean the substrate → Seal joints → Mark positions and snap lines → Install membrane using the loose-lay method → Fully adhere at lap joints → Clean, trim, and inspect → Peel off the top release liner → Pour concrete

  • Key Construction Points

◎ Prepare the Substrate: The substrate should be level, firm, and free of standing water; all protrusions must be completely removed.

◎ Overlapping the long and short edges: Peel off the release film from the long and short overlapping edges of the roll material, then press them firmly into place using a hand-held roller.

◎ Sealing the Long and Short Edges: Seal the overlaps at the long and short edges of the roll material using 120 mm wide double-sided self-adhesive sealing tape.

Suitable for waterproofing applications in industrial and residential buildings, including roofs, basements, interiors, tunnels, subways, and municipal projects.

Suitable for waterproofing roofs with special structures, such as wooden roofs.

It is particularly suitable for waterproofing projects at oil depots, chemical plants, textile mills, and other facilities where open-flame work is not permitted.

  • Packaging: Sealed in special packaging film.
  • Storage: Products of different types and specifications should be stored separately and should not be mixed. Protect from direct sunlight and rain, and ensure adequate ventilation. The storage temperature should not exceed 45°C. When stored flat, rolls should be stacked no higher than three layers; when stored upright, they should be stored in a single layer. Under normal storage and transportation conditions, the product has a shelf life of one year from the date of manufacture.
  • Transportation: Prevent tilting or lateral pressure during transport; cover with a tarpaulin if necessary.
