This product is a waterproofing membrane manufactured with a high-density polyethylene film as the base, modified asphalt adhesive or self-adhesive asphalt adhesive on both the top and bottom surfaces, and a separating layer covering the surface.

 Product Categories

Based on the installation process, these products are classified into two types: heat-fused and self-adhesive;

Hot-melt products are classified into three types based on the composition of their modifiers: modified oxidized bitumen waterproofing membranes, styrene-butadiene rubber (SBR)-modified oxidized bitumen waterproofing membranes, and polymer-modified bitumen waterproofing membranes.

 Product Features

The key features of polyethylene geomembrane products are their high density and impermeability, exceptional elongation, and corrosion resistance. Specific details are as follows:

  • With ultra-high elongation of 120% or higher, this product is suitable for building waterproofing projects subject to significant settlement deformation and vibration, and is particularly suitable for underground waterproofing projects;
  • It offers excellent corrosion resistance; even when immersed in acidic or alkaline water for extended periods, its waterproof properties and durability remain unaffected;
  • Excellent density, impermeability, and resistance to root penetration; suitable for dry installation and waterproofing projects with high levels of water vapor:
  • Self-adhesive materials bond effectively to waterproof substrates such as 100%, eliminating concerns about hard-to-locate water leaks. They are convenient, simple, and easy to apply, and cause no pollution.

 Engineering Methods

Hot-melt membranes are installed using either the hot-melt method or the cold-adhesive method; self-adhesive membranes are installed using the dry-lay, pre-lay, or wet-lay methods.

Hot-melt Method: A construction method in which a heating tool is used to melt the backing of the membrane, thereby bonding the membrane to the substrate or to another membrane. When using the hot-melt method, the membrane thickness

It must be greater than 3 mm. During installation, care must be taken to control the flame temperature—it should not be too high—to preserve the performance of the polyethylene backing. After the polyethylene-faced roofing membrane passes inspection, a protective layer should be applied.

  • Cold-adhesive method: Apply the adhesive evenly to the waterproofing substrate. Once dry, lay the membrane while rolling it with a roller to expel any air trapped beneath it, ensuring the membrane lies flat, tight, and securely bonded to the substrate.

  • Dry-Lay Method: A construction method in which self-adhesive membranes are applied directly to the structural substrate. During installation, apply a primer to a dry, level, and dust-free substrate. After the primer has dried, peel off the release liner from the membrane’s surface and adhere the membrane directly to the substrate to ensure a secure bond between the membrane and the substrate.

  • Pre-lay Method: This is a common installation method for self-adhesive membranes in basement construction, also known as the reverse-adhesion method. The membrane is loosely laid on the substrate with the self-adhesive side facing up; the release liner on the top surface is peeled off, and then concrete is poured. The concrete bonds firmly to the self-adhesive side of the membrane, forming a watertight waterproofing layer.

  • Wet-Lay Method: A construction method that involves bonding self-adhesive membranes with cement mortar, which solves the challenge of installing self-adhesive membranes on damp substrates. Apply the specified cement mortar to the substrate, peel off the release liner from the membrane, lay it on top of the cement mortar, and treat the overlap edges of the seams as required.

Suitable for waterproofing projects involving significant structural deformation and requiring a high level of waterproofing performance.

Suitable for underground projects: waterproofing, moisture-proofing, and seepage-proofing projects in basements, subways, tunnels, culverts, and other similar applications.

Suitable for roofing projects: Waterproofing, moisture-proofing, and seepage prevention for the roofs of various buildings.
